The Surf & Scout Story

The Surf & Scout Story

A seed is Planted

During my 20's and 30's, I was living a super fast paced life in London. Building a career for myself that I didn't enjoy and making myself ill. I began to realise that I wanted to get back to those things I did enjoy - nature and creativity. In 2017, I moved back to Gloucestershire where I grew up, filled my cup a little and wondered where I could best channel my creativity.

Jewellery has always been something I love. Its ability to trigger wonderful memories of places, people and happy times. And so I bought myself some tools and beads and began creating nature inspired pieces of jewellery, initially as Boho Jewellery Box.

Why Surf & Scout?

It wasn't long before I began to feel like the brand I'd settled on, didn't really embody what my jewellery and perhaps more importantly, what the inspiration for making it was all about - nature and adventure.

I put my brand thinking cap on! Surf - and that wonderful feeling of it gently washing over your toes as you take your first steps towards the ocean has always gifted me a sense of pure joy! And really, that's what nature is to me. Then I need to find something that chimed with adventure and that's when kismet stepped in and I met Scout.

I didn't know at the time that how much he would live up to his adventurous name, nor that he himself would inspire me so very much. But I did know that Surf & Scout was perfect - and so it was born.

The Journey Ahead

Nature is really the beating heart of my little business and that's something I hope comes across in my designs. Through the stones, sea glass and beads I use, as well as my product pictures.

Adventuring certainly became a lot harder when I lost Scout but I know he still walks with me and my new furry friend - Willow - who I like to think of as his little sister! When it comes to the future of Surf & Scout, Scout's memory and the incredible places we explored together, that I now get to explore with Willow while remembering him - continue to inspire me.

I am constantly inspired by natures wonder and look forward to the design journey ahead!  I'm so very grateful that I get to share it with you all - the wonderful friends and customers I have met along the way!
